Fresh Flowers FAQs
How long will fresh flowers last?
Fresh flowers should last at least 7 days (with proper care after pick up or delivery) and up to 10 days.
How do I take care of fresh flowers?
- Keep the vase ¾ full. Don't overcrowd the vase.
- Change the water every 1-2 days; when doing so, using clean sharp shears, minimally recut stems at a 45° angle. Keep the water ¼ full.
- Remove blossoms and stems as they fade.
- Display flowers in a cool spot, beyond direct sunlight, heat sources and drafts.
- Display flowers away from fruits and vegetables.
What flowers and plants are toxic to people and pets?
We strongly recommend that you keep your flowers and potted plants out of reach from pets and small children, as they may contain one or more of these toxic species: Allium, Amaryllis, Anthurium, Azalea, Begonia, Bird of Paradise, Bittersweet, Borage, Calla Lily, Carnation, Castor Bean, Chamomile, Cherry tree, Chrysanthemum, Clematis, Cyclamen, Daffodil, Dahlia, Delphinium, Foxglove, Geranium, Gladiola, Hellebore, Hops, Hosta, Hyacinth, Hydrangea, Iris, Larkspur, Lilies, Lily of the Valley, Nicotine, Peony, Peach tree, Plum tree, Pieris, Poinsettia, Poppy, Rhododendron, Sweet Pea, Tulip, or Yarrow.
For a comprehensive list, see the ASPCA site.
Can you create something custom?
Since we’re a private studio and not a storefront, we don’t typically keep fresh flower inventory on hand unless it’s for larger events or multiple orders. Custom bouquets or arrangements require us to purchase flowers in bulk, and because we’re not set up for walk-in sales, we aren’t always able to repurpose or resell any unused stems. For this reason, we generally require a larger order for custom fresh floral work.
If you’re interested, please email us photos or references of what you have in mind. We recommend placing your order at least two weeks in advance to ensure we can source the flowers needed for you.
Dried & Preserved Flowers FAQs
How long do dried flowers last?
Dried flowers can last for many years with proper care.
To keep them looking their best, display them out of direct sunlight to avoid fading, and keep them away from moisture and humidity to prevent moulding.
Being a natural product, these pieces are fragile and their appearances will naturally change over time.
How do I care for dried flowers?
Dried flowers need little maintenance compared to their fresh counterparts, but they're not exempt from a bit of TLC!
- Be gentle: Dried flowers are fragile & become more fragile over time
- No water: Keep them dry at all times
- Avoid direct sunlight: To slow down fading & maintain colour retention
- A quiet place: Place arrangement in a spot where there’s minimal movement and no wind
- Good airflow: Avoid temperature fluctuations especially humid & damp environments - if they become moist, they can become mouldy
Do dried flowers shed?
Some of them definitely do! Especially Pampas grass.
How do I prevent pampas grass from shedding?
- Give pampas a light shake to fluff it up & to allow excess plume shedding to occur - flyaways and shedding is normal.
Shake pampas at an outdoor space if possible as it can get messy! - Spray a light coat of unscented hairspray every few months to lock in the fluff and keep the shedding at bay
- No water please! Keep them dry at all times
Can you create something custom?
Absolutely! We're always happy to create custom dried arrangements. Just contact us and we'll get started on your one of a kind piece.
Can I bring my own vase for you to fill?
